Kefalonia Fisheries acquires ASC certificate for responsible aquaculture

ASC certificate

Celebrating 38 years of responsible fish farming practices, at Kefalonia Fisheries we are always happy to welcome a new standard that certifies that "aquaculture can play a major role in supplying food and social benefits for mankind whilst minimizing negative impacts on the environment".

Our entire production and chain of custody were inspected early in summer 2019 and now we are proud to announce that we have acquired the Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification.

The ASC certificate is now added to the list of important standards our activities comply with (Global G.A.P., Friend of the Sea, EU organic aquaculture standard, Naturland e.V.) all of which together demonstrate our unnegotiable commitment to environmentally sustainable and socially responsible practices.

With more than 150 performance indicators, the ASC certificate requires the application of stringent controls and sets strict criteria with regard to the preservation of the natural environment, biodiversity and water resources, as well as socially responsible best practices.
